Buzz of excitement on the ship today as we make our way to the crow’s nest for our introduction to the 3.3 million acre National Park that is Glacier Bay.

Park rangers boarded the cruise ship earlier in the day around 7am via smaller vessel as the ship was still moving. On and off during the day they’ll commentate via loud speakers about what we’re viewing. We’ve seen a herd of seals but no whales yet! The park is a place of dynamic change and obquite a different landscape to what it was 20 years ago.

It’s raining and misty as we approach but probably to be expected at this time of year. It is still awesome and the pictures and videos will do nothing to transmit the actual enormity of it all. So grateful to have had the opportunity to see it.

This is what I was most looking forward to on this cruise and I admit to feeling more than a bit emotional that I’m not sharing the experience with Angus, who would be thrilled to have been here. It was a trip we had talked about often pre Covid and we would have come in 2019 but it wasn’t to be.

But I’m proud of myself for coming solo and after I come indoors again I’m toasting him with a Gold Rush coffee -not Irish coffee but Grand Mariner.

Cheers my darling!

Here’s to us.

I did it. X ❤️X❤️
