As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, the voyage to Juneau will take longer than scheduled due to heavy weather in the Pacific.

Thanks to taking the more sheltered route, we’ll only be in open Pacific waters for about an hour from 5-6 am , where we expect swells of 17 ft. 🤢 I had decided to skip the cruise drinks package but might change my mind now! It might be not too bad in a boat this size. I’ll have to wait and see, though without Angus to hang onto 😂 I’m sure he’ll be having a hearty laugh wherever he is.
Unfortunately, due to our late arrival in Juneau, the shore excursion I had booked to the Mendlehall Glacier and whale watch has now been cancelled. Hoping we can make up time so we can catch the next one. Any prepaid excursions are of course credited to your account.
After breakfast today I took a more in depth look around the ship where I found an impressive looking library where you simply walk in, borrow a book and walk out again. Perfect. Only proviso being that you take only one per visit.

There are plenty on board lectures and activities to cater for a wide variety of interests from European art to the indigenous peoples of Alaska. On board the usual quizzes etc and for those who like a flutter there’s the ubiquitous gaming tables and slot machines, ballroom dancing etc

Tonight’s a ‘formal’ night so the photographers will be out in force. I’m told that formal nights are a lot less so than they were back in the day. Just as well as I certainly don’t have my dancing shoes aboard.
After lunch I found the jogging track where you can go for a jog or a walk. Most people were walking. I managed my 9,000 steps before the blustery conditions drove me indoors. Nothing virtuous here. Just damage limitation in face of all the food 😂
Talking of which…….here I go again.

After dinner headed for the piano lounge.
Stormy waters a few hours away yet.
