Today we visited North Island Wildlife Recovery Centre, a non-profit organisation that cares for injured or ill animals, rescued black bears, eagles, owls, falcons, ravens and other wildlife.

Huge stuffed elk from the exhibition. The exhibits give people a good idea of the actual size of the animals
They have a very well-equipped veterinary hospital to deal with most injuries. Vets are on call when needed.
Bald eagle with an injured wing

Caught a glimpse or two of the adult black bear but it was so heavily camouflaged , we couldn’t make out much detail.

Great to know that there are people out there that are doing their best to care for animals hurt in so many ways, much of it from human activity.

I spotted a pair of brightly coloured peahens as I was leaving. 😜
